The Production Process of BMC Mold ‌

The Production Process of BMC Mold Mainly Includes the Following Steps:

 

1. Raw material preparation : The liquid components and additives in the formula are fully stirred in a high-speed beater to prepare the paste. Then put the powder filler into the kneading machine and mix slightly, and then pour the paste into the kneading machine for full kneading and mixing, to complete the uniform mixing of liquid-solid two phases.

2. Glass fiber treatment : Sprinkle the cut glass fiber on the mixed paste at startup and mix it strongly for 5~8 minutes until the glass fiber is coated and impregnated with the paste. This process needs to avoid breaking the glass fiber for too long, so as not to affect the quality of the final product.

3. Molding : Pour the mixed material into the mold for heating and pressure molding. This process includes closing, venting, curing, stripping and other steps. When the mold is closed, the rapid closing of the mold is used first. After the mold is closed, the pressure is increased to heat and pressure the raw material. Exhaust is to exclude low molecular matter, volatile matter and air in the mold. Curing is maintained at the molding temperature for a period of time, so that the polycondensation reaction of the resin reaches the degree of crosslinking. Stripping is usually done by ejecting rods.

4. Post treatment : After stripping, usually use compressed air to blow the cavity and the die surface of the mold, if the fixed objects on the mold are tight, but also need to use a copper knife or copper brush to clean, and even use polish brush. In order to further improve the quality of the products, thermosetting plastic products are often processed at a higher temperature.

 

Process Parameter

 

• Barrel temperature : The barrel temperature should meet the lower limit of BMC, usually divided into two or three sections of control, near the hopper end is lower, near the nozzle end is higher, the temperature difference is generally between 20~60.

Mold temperature : Mold temperature is generally controlled between 135~185.

Injection pressure : Due to poor BMC fluidity and fast curing, the injection pressure should be higher, usually 80~160MPa.

Injection speed : The injection speed should ensure the surface quality of the plastic parts under the premise of a lower speed, usually 1.8~3.5m/min.

Screw speed and back pressure : Screw speed should be selected as the lowest value, generally 20~50r/min, the back pressure is 1.4~2.0MPa.

Molding cycle : Injection time is 2~20s, holding time is 10~20s.

Through the above steps and parameter control, we can ensure the high quality production of BMC mold.
